The vision of the Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society, Inc. (SHFS), is to gather, preserve and promote interest in the area now known as Saskatchewan. Although SHFS has been working hard to achieve these ends since its inception in 1957, we recognize that we have not been alone in this endeavor. There have been many individuals and organizations working with little or no recognition towards similar goals of their own.
To raise public awareness of Saskatchewan's history and the people who work to preserve and interpret it, SHFS has established an Awards Program.
All interested individuals (excluding current SHFS Board members) or organizations are invited to participate in the Awards Program by submitting nominations.
Nominees may be volunteers, professionals, non-profit organizations or corporations.
Performance on behalf of the Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society is not eligible.
Examples of completed history or folklore works may include, but are not limited to the following: educational projects; books; plays; music; folkloric crafts; oral histories; electronic publications; films; etc.
The work or project for which the individual or organization is being nominated must contribute to the vision of SHFS (stated above) and also must have been made available in Saskatchewan.
The SHFS Award is an large hand inscribed certificate.
All applications must be received in the SHFS office by April 30th of each year.
