The Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society (SHFS) sponsors this program to recognize families that have a strong and continuous link with this province's heritage. Certificates are awarded to families who have operated any business or farm, or lived in the same residence for 80 years or longer.
These certificates are free to SHFS Members. Non-members will be charged $20.00 per certificate.
This recognition is not heritage property designation and does not restrict property alterations.
To complete an application to this program, please obtain a form from SHFS and attach proof of ownership in one of the two following methods:
METHOD 1: a photocopy of the original deed or of the "75th" certificate you may have received from the Province, plus a photocopy of the most current tax notice.
METHOD 2: have your municipal administrator verify your information, sign and officially stamp the application in the shaded area of the form.
The certificate that your family will receive measures 11" x 14", is done in calligraphy, suitable for framing. When we receive your completed form and required verification, your certificate can be completed and mailed to you.
If you wish to share a family story with us about your farm, home or business this will make the registration more personal and meaningful.
Please inform friends, neighbours and relatives who might benefit from this program.
You can contact the SHFS office (780-9204 or 1-800-919-9437) for a Saskatchewan Historical Recognition Registry Application form. You may also click here for an application form as a printable PDF file.
