THEATRE ON THE HOOF
For several years the Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society is again partnering with Burning Sun Productions to bring a chatauqua-like experience to communities throughout Saskatchewan.
This theatrical tour is known at Theatre on the Hoof. A full day of historical and cultural entertainment is planned for communities in Southern Saskatchewan. This entertainment will take the form of family rodeos, gymkhanas, chuckwagon dinners, campfire concerts and the presentation of Ken Mitchell's drama, "Spirits of the Trail".
"Spirits of the Trail" is an hour long drama about the fascinating friendship of NWMP Inspector James Walsh and Sitting Bull. Sitting Bull was the great Sioux Chief who sought sanctuary in Canada after defeating the U.S. Army at the Battle of the Little Big Horn in 1876. The 2011 production of the play will feature a cast of eight actors as well as local performers as riders, wagon drivers, Cree dancers, Lakota singers, Cowboy poets and Country & Western bands.
